Alabama District Circle K is accepting applications for Communications Officer. The Communications Officer is responsible for working with the Alabama District Circle K Board, under the guidance of the Kiwanis Committee on Circle K, to develop and execute a comprehensive communications plan to promote Circle K in Alabama, both inside and outside of our organization. To do this, the Communications Officer creates content for alabamacki.org, edits the monthly Bama Bugle electronic newsletter for members, manages promotions for District Events, is crazy about posting on Social Media, and sends effective Press Releases to regional media outlets as necessary. The perfect candidate should be well versed in Public Relations theories; have a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, MailChimp & WordPress; and/or, be willing to learn fast.
Communications Officer is not only about creating content. Part of the job is working with local club officers to help them develop their clubs’ communication strategy and assisting those clubs with utilizing the Digital & Social Media tools available to them as an Alabama District Circle K club. (Don’t worry; you’re not expected to be their “IT Guy” to solve technical issues. You’re just helping the clubs make the most of their resources by assisting in the development of their content.)
Do you fit some of the qualifications but not all? Are you thinking? I’d love to do this, but I’m not sure I know anything about X?… Apply! The most important thing is a willingness to learn, work hard, and be effective.
If you have any questions about the role and the duties, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have any questions about the selection process, reach out to Alabama District Circle K Governor Jessica Bloom (Auburn) at email@example.com.
