Circle K doesn’t stop in the summer! For a lot of Circle K clubs, summer is the perfect time to set goals! Goals about service, recruitment, and much more can set the course for the upcoming year. However, some goals are made better than others. To make your club’s goals the best they can be, make them S.M.A.R.T. Goals!
S.M.A.R.T. Goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.
Your club’s goals should be made Specific by asking the six “W” questions: Who is involved, What do I want to accomplish, Where do I want this to happen, When will this goal be accomplished, Which requirements and constraints do you have to be aware of, and Why are you doing this.
Make your club goals Measurable by establishing criteria to measure progress toward your goal. Whether it be a fundraising goal or a membership goal, making your goals measurable allows you to see if your plan is working over time.
Your club’s goals also need to be Attainable. Setting smaller, more attainable goals allows you to see success and to move forward rather than becoming discouraged about not reaching goals that are not attainable.
Making sure your club’s goals are Realistic is also important. Goals must be something that your club is both willing and able to work toward. Keeping your club’s goals realistic rather than unrealistic, while at the same time allowing your club’s goals to represent substantial progress, is an essential part of the goal making process.
Lastly, your club’s goals should be Timely. All goals should be grounded within a time frame. An end date with check marks along the way will help put your progress into motion.
S.M.A.R.T. Goals will allow your club to see progress and to efficiently reach milestones. All clubs should make it a priority to set some S.M.A.R.T. Goals over the summer at their summer board meetings and to stick to them this upcoming year! Use S.M.A.R.T. Goals to help make a difference!
